Multimeter Hints
1) When buying a multimeter try and get one with decent AC ranges as the closer to the correct range you are the more accurate your reading will be.
2) For hobby use any meter is OK but if you age going to measure 110/230 volts make sure you meter is cat II or III rated and UL or IEC checked as some cheaper meters have been known to explode on higher voltage readings.
3) A continuity tester with a beep is helpful for finding open circuits.
4) Always when using a meter use the prove-test-prove method. First prove on a known source - Test what you are testing - Finally prove your meter on the known source again.
